Mike Allen

Mike Allen has nearly thirty years experience in the charity sector and is currently Manager of Staying Put Birmingham, part of the Anchor Trust group, the largest UK housing charity. He is working on improvements to their ICT provision, looking at social impact & usability, as well as value for money in a non-profit environment. Previously, as CEO of Age Concern Sandwell, he became interested in older users and technology; using the information he gathered about this user group he created Age Concern Sandwell's first web site.

Rodica Mocan is associate professor at the Journalism Department of the Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj, Romania. She teaches courses in New Media Journalism, Internet and Global Communication and Visual Communication. Her reasearch interests are on the uses of Internet and multimedia in distance education, journalism as well as the democratising potential of ICTs. She contributed chapters with case studies about the use of new media in distance education and political parties in Romania.
