HOW TO USE THIS SITE
This website has been designed for use in either a primary school classroom, or with parent guidance at home. It is specifically designed for Year 3 primary school pupils and the information it teaches has been tailored to meet the requirements of the National Literacy Strategy.

For further information on exactly which elements of the National Curriculum are covered in the website, look at the NATIONAL CURRICULUM page.

The website is roughly split into two main sections.

The FIND OUT section contains links to the different topic areas, each of which are explained through the use of simple animation.

The second section is the STORY section. This section consists of a short adaptation of the story of Odysseus and the Cyclops and is interspersed by exercises for the children to interact with. These take the form of sentences, which require the addition of speech marks. Two simple to use tools are supplied for this purpose. A more detailed explanation is included as you go along in the site.

SUPPORT MATERIAL

At the end of the story the children will be invited to ask their teacher or parent for their certificate. Click HERE for a more detailed view of the certificate and the option to print a copy. It is recommended that a copy of this certificate is printed out. The certificate includes space for the child to create their own ending to the story and encourage the use of speech marks in their own writing.

The certificate is designed for A4 paper and is printed in grayscale to allow it to be successfully photocopied.
